Art and Product Development: Holiday - Winter Mountain | Target Corporation | Released 2016
Winter Mountain was a mini-trend included in Target’s 2016 Holiday assortment. It was supposed to be icy but heart-warming, geometric but soft. I used splashes of watercolor to ground the art and included hand-drawn linework to bring the characters and collection to life.
Using forest and arctic themes, I created several vignettes that could easily be incorporated into Target’s holiday assortment. I used a combination of see-through and opaque elements to offer colorful, yet quiet scenes. Sparkle, snowflake, and star details were sprinkled in for a bit of winter wonderland magic.
The patterns for this collection were ice and star inspired with sophisticated geometrics and a splattering of metallic finishes. To bring warmth, I included a character-infused forest and sweater prints. These patterns were used on wrapping paper and printed fleece blankets.
Above are a few of the ornaments that were brought to life from the Winter Mountain collection! Felted wool, glitter-filled shatterproof, and ceramic materials were mixed together to create a wide range of options for guest’s to choose from.
