Target Holiday: Holly Days

Art and Product Development: Holiday - Holly Days | Target Corporation | Released 2012

Holly Days was the first holiday collection I created after I began working in-house for Target. I researched past Target sets and developed a cast of characters that didn’t deviate too far from previous years, but still felt new. This was my goal with every collection I designed at Target: to push the art to be a little trendier than the year before and to gradually impact the look of season so it was always fresh but still felt true to the Target brand.

The art for Holly Days was intended to look child-like with imperfect linework and shapes imitating paper cut-outs. I didn’t want to over-complicate the graphics, which were used by a variety of designers from departments across Target, so I left it simple and bold - utilizing solid backgrounds to let the characters stand out.

Holly Days patterns featured simple botanicals, candy stripes and bold snowflakes on solid grounds. The prints were used for table runners, wrapping paper, bed sheets, and more!
