FAQs

  • I get lots of requests from authors, but the children’s books I illustrate are published through houses like Scholastic and Penguin Random House. Publishers select the manuscript and then choose an illustrator (that’s me!) they think fits the story. This way, the book can reach a much larger audience, and I’m able to devote the time needed to create all that detailed art—it’s a big job! If you have a manuscript, consider submitting it to publishing houses. If you’re looking for something more personal, check with local art colleges where students may be open to collaborating at a more affordable rate.

  • It depends on size, complexity, and timing. Whether you’re looking to brighten a kid’s room, a school, or a commercial space, I’d love to chat. Reach out with details and we’ll figure out a mural solution that makes a big impact while staying on budget!

  • Yes! I create artwork for puzzles, games, toys, stationery, and other kid-friendly products. I also design playful packaging and branding for family-focused companies. My goal is always to make something colorful, engaging, and memorable for kids and their grown-ups.

  • I don’t sell directly, but you can find my work in stores and online. There are “Buy Now” buttons throughout my site that link directly to retailers. My illustrated products are sold in big stores like Target, Amazon, and Walmart, as well as in smaller local shops, and sometimes just seasonally. Keep your eyes peeled - you never know where my designs might pop up!

  • When I started in 2008, the industry looked different, but a few things still hold true:

    • Build a portfolio that shows the kind of work you want to get hired for.

    • Put your art out there—visibility matters!

    • Say yes to projects that give you experience, even if they’re not your dream job yet. Every project builds toward work that feels like the perfect fit.

  • Usually, yes! My schedule fills up fast, but I can often start new projects within 1–3 months. Send me a note, and I’ll get back to you in a couple of days to talk details.
